Route description

The starting point is situated in the parking of "Arcu e Tidu" (445), near the Forester Barracks at the entrance of the 7 Brothers Natural Park. It's easy to reach; driving along the S.S. 125, coming from Cagliari, you must turn right and cover a few metres. The air is fresh and clean and we start the run along the asphalted ascent leading to "Monte Cresia" (650), where a lowland allows to us to admire the beautiful landscape. After 5.5 km. we turn left for an off road way which cross a stream (photo 1) and leads us to "Arcu sa Spina" (700), where the itinerary runs across a marvelous valley dominated by the Mountain of 7 Brothers. After a spring we run across "Arcu Curadori" and "Arcu su Crabiolu" where begin a disconnected and very fun descent that leads us to "Arcu Buddui" (575). Following on the left, after a water cross, we begin the hard ascent along the stream "Riu Ceraxa", a very disconnected and insidious slope where sometimes we have to use our foot photo 2 After the last hairpin bend, the road surface become red. It's the mark of the ending of the ascent to "Baccu Malu" (1016), one of the 7 brothers that lies just in front of us. At the fork we turn right to the Forester Barracks of Baccu Malu where, turning right, a dog (Charlie) and a fawn welcome us (photo 2). A few metres far from the Barracks, on the right, there is a view point where we can admire a marvelous landscape with the green woods and the sea coast of Castiadas. Just the time for a break and we start the downhill turning on the right from the view point. This descent, after a spring and a bar, drive us to the lowland of Castiadas along a path with an insidious transversal slope that get us towards the mountain. (photo 3) photo 3 On the asphalted road we go to Castiadas (170) running near the villages of Annunziata, Sabadi and Camisa. Arrived in Castiadas we found a little village, some old houses and a few people! In the main square in front of the old prigion, we turn right and found a water spring! So we follow the route turnig on the right to the Arcu Gutturu Frascu (400) along a white off road ascent. At the next cross we turn right to the area of Mont'Arbu. If you turn left you run on the climb to MinniMinni Mountain where you can have a marvelous view to the coast from Villasimius to Costa Rei. If you go straight you run on the descent to Solanas. photo 4 We run on an hard climb that after some kilometres became a nice lowland that drive us at the "Sanguinetti House" after which we arrive to a cross in the "Arcu Ollioni" area. There we turn right in the second and smallest way. It's a wonderful single track, very tecnical and disconnected (photo 4) along which sometimes we have to run by foot. At the end of the single track we turn right and we arrive at the old building "Dispensa Vecchia" (400), after which we cross the stearm and we begin the ascent named "Sa Corti". It is a climb that begin with an hard slope, but it become more easy since the top in the area called "Codoleddu" (700). We go on right to the Monte Cresia area on an asphaltated road that drive us to a cross with two off roads on the right. We run on the second which cross a stream and leads us to Arcu sa Spina, but we turn left before the biginning of the climb along an off road that turn on the right to a medium slope climb which drive us to a clearing. On the left we found a small path called "sentiero n° 5". It is a funny single track which runs under the wood and arrive near the forester barracks of Maidopis where we turn left for the final descent that ends on the bridge over the Maidopis stream. Turning on the left we climb since the asphalted road near the car parcking.
